Hecho was hired to update and upgrade the original location of Red Hook Lobster Pound by expanding their current space to accommodate a full bar and a flexible event area. On an extremely tight deadline — they were closed for only six weeks in winter — this design and build job challenged us to maintain the feel of a mom-and-pop lobster joint without being too kitchy. The room is anchored by a round “lighthouse” bathroom in the far corner. Custom-cut Masonite tiles on the bar façade are reminiscent of fish scales and a large mural of nautical flags complete the space. The new design has been deemed “nautical chic” by Eater Magazine.
